Just a quick thank you

I'm about to go to bed - so tired! But I just wanted to say thank you so much to all of you who commented on my last 2 posts. Made me feel much better, much loved and much supported.

I'm getting my head around my little men now. And looking forward to daughters-in-law and granddaughters!

Names....ah well - there's a task for you - what do you think? We like Archie, Nathan, Alexander, Isaac (after Newton, not the bible) - Rob still likes Odin (which was what he wanted to call Oscar !!!) but I'm TOTALLY up for suggestions - we won't name him till we see him. Oscar was never on our list with the first pregnancy - it was all a big joke (the only way I'd get an Oscar was to give birth to one) but it suited him once we met him.

So please - inundate me with ideas! I like original but not too wacky - like Oscar I suppose!

Thank you again my lovely blogmates.

I suck with boy names, which was one of the reason why I was glad to have a girl. I like Issac and Odin. And as a bonus, they both would sound great with Oscar.

Nathan is fairly common over here in the States, so if you're wanting something unusual, I'd stay away from that. (see the Baby Name Wizard for proof)

Personally I think you should call him Tony, to go with the Oscar... ;)

I can't help on the name front I'm afraid as we are having major probs with it ourselves! But glad to hear you are feeling a bit happier about things. x

Isaac is lovely.. but if we are naming after geniuses (geni?) what about Bertie after Mr Einstein?
Glad you are feeling a bit more chipper :-)

Nathan and Archie are both too popular I think - I really like the suggestions Bertie and Wilf as above. Alexander is Alfie's middle name and I think it's lovely. Johnnie? Sebastian? Rafferty? Fergus?

I loved the named Alexander before he was ever born and now a few weeks away from his 9th birthday love it just as much. He prefers to be called Alex these days by his friends (little rebel!!) Nathan is another one I like.... Have fun choosing!

You could go with the surname-as-first-name thing and use Newton, or Darwin or Edison or Franklin or something. I'm sure Rob can come up with a bunch of others. Plutarch, for instance ;)

Albert is nice, and has a similar "time period" feel as Oscar (and the Baby Name Wizard bears that out) though it might be odd having two Berts in the house...

I love Isaac - Oscar and Zak go well together. Can't have Bertie because you've got one already.

Also like Alexander - Russians abbreviate that to Sacha. How about Rufus? If he has red hair it will be just right, and it's what you were going to be called if you were a boy ie James Rufus.

Adam Beauregard (after an American Civil War general) to be known as Beau? This is what your Dad wanted to call your sister if she was a boy.

Your Mum.

I was thinking along the same lines as K - Tony, Grammy or Bafta :o) but I like Archie too.

Beauregard is on our list too but DH keeps saying its a slave owners name :o(

Glad you are feeling happier now.

I think Isaac Edwards sound very good! But then so does Nathan..... it's difficult isn't it, god forbid I should have another boy, having 3 already and hubby one of 3 and my dad having 2 brothers and my fil having two brothers and my bro and sis having 2 boys a piece there isn't much left in the name book to choose from!!

Hermione Norris has called her little boy Wilf, not a name I would go for but it would suit you, iykwim.

Could call him Basil I suppose - JOKING!!!

Good luck choosing, write them all down on a list and every week go through them and tick of the ones you have gone of.

Hiya Sal
Congratulations on your boy news!!! Don't ever repeat this.....but, and I feel awful for saying it, part of me was a little sad that Tilly wasn't a boy. I so wanted Finn to have a brother. There is something so special about having two boys.....just wonderful. Can understand your sadness though.
OK, names...........we had Edward picked out as I Love Ed, Eddie, Ned and Teddy, but guess Edward Edwards is a no no!
Friend had a baby called Cillian (pronounced Kil-ian) recently. Really like that name. Pal of Finn's is Atticus, like that. But Atticus and Finn is to close to Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird so that was a no!
Good luck in choosing...so hard!
Much love
